At the moment, soybean plantings in the country total some 2 Ml ha while the 2016 overall harvest was at 3.2 MMT with a yield of 1.55 MT/ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Taking into account soybean demand existing since a few years ago, planted acreage at all-types farms in the Stavropol region fluctuates within 30 Th ha, with a yield at 1.2 MT/ha. A total of some 39 KMT of soybeans was harvested in the region in 2016.

Aleksandr Tselovalnikov, head of Novoaleksandrovsky district's agriculture department announced the construction of a large plant for advanced soybean processing. The plant is to produce a wide range of products in line with the world's best technologies. The project will be implemented by Soya Protein Products Group.

Provided steady soybean demand is generated, this crop's plantings in the region may expand to 40-50 Th ha in the coming years. Overall production of soybeans can be increased to 70-80 KMT.
